1	101016000	ICU4Covid	Completed	Cyber-Physical Intensive Care Medical System for Covid-19	""	""	The European health services have well responded to the COVID-19 emerging crisis, especially if and where the intensive care unit (ICU) capacities were sufficient, were prepared and collectively cooperating, sharing knowledge and were able to protect from further spreading of the disease among the healthcare workforce and the patients. Today, only 47% of hospitals have the recommended coverage of intensive care specialists and they are unevenly distributed between centres and periphery. The Cyber-Physical System for Telemedicine and Intensive Care (CPS4TIC) enables existing or new ICU structures to transform and operate as one ICU Hub with one central ICU and connected ICUs in peripheral hospitals. CPS4TIC was used successfully in the first wave of COVID-19 to ensure efficient and effective diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients, while reducing the risk of infection drastically. The CPS4TIC consists of a telemedicine cockpit, telemedicine consoles at each peripheral hospital, a connector platform and smart bedside hubs including robotic arm at the bedsides of both, the central telemonitoring clinics and the peripheral telemonitored hospitals. The ICU Hub operates telemedicine, continuous real-time telemonitoring and bedside smart care environment. The bedside smart care environment reduces the risk of infection for the health workforce significantly both for the central and the peripheral hospitals. The electronic and optical properties of such materials critically depend on so-called interlayer coupling â€“ the interaction between the neighboring atomic layers within the material. What is of particular interest is that one can modulate this interlayer coupling, and thereby the materialâ€™s properties, by applying an electric field in the out-of-plane direction of the atomic layers. In this project, I focus on a typical semiconductor layered material called transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDC). In TMDC, bandgap modulation with DC electric fields was recently achieved. However, the limitation of the modulation speed remains yet unclarified. In addition, the expected insulator-metal transition at the strong-field limit has not yet been realized because the required strong field causes a dielectric breakdown of the material.This project aims to (1) Realize ultrafast control of electronic properties of layered materials via direct ultrafast manipulation of interlayer coupling, (2) Identify the speed limitations to this controlling mechanism, and (3) Realize the insulator-metal transition in the layered material via the ultrafast control scheme. To investigate the ultrafast dynamics, I will utilize the terahertz technology, which enables us to apply a very short pulse of an electric field - a terahertz pulse - to the material and observe the change of its optical properties in an ultrafast timescale. A newly proposed micrometer-sized device, which converts an incident terahertz pulse to a strong out-of-plane electric field on TMDC, will enable ultrafast property control.The proposed scheme will be applicable for the ultrafast control of quantum phases in various layered-material systems. Hereupon, first explorative reflections of different OER platforms of all project countries as well as an international literature review are made accessible. Interviews and group discussions will be used to capture teachers’ and learners’ perspectives on OER and their sensitivity to inclusion. Based on these initial explorations, a catalogue of criteria for inclusion-sensitive Open Educational Resources will be developed, which will form the basis for an in-service training module for teachers and teacher trainees. These results will be made openly available. By setting up an openly accessible, interactive rating function on the digital portal, teachers, students, pupils and parents will be able to evaluate existing OER along the newly developed criteria. In this way, a broad public is invited to enter into a critical discourse on the topic of inclusion sensitivity in OER. Teacher trainees are also particularly encouraged to use these tools and digital spaces to reflect on the connection between inclusion sensitivity and learning materials. This participatory component in turn feeds back into the academic discourse, as the assessments and reviews designed by teachers and learners become the basis for meta-reviews from a researcher’s perspective. These questions concern the content of judgements that human beings are constantly making and that structure our way of thinking, feeling, and acting. But while there is wide agreement in contemporary philosophy that normative judgements form a unified and important category of human thought, philosophers still struggle to understand what normativity actually is. One highly attractive hypothesis is that normativity can be analysed in terms of reasons – i.e. in terms of the factors that count in favour of or against actions or attitudes. But the systematic exploration of this Reasons-First Approach is still lacking. REASONS F1RST aims to undertake this much-needed investigation. Fostering multidisciplinary conversations, the project will explore the Reasons-First Approach on a large scale. It seeks to address recent challenges to the Reasons-First Approach and to show that it prevails over alternative approaches to understanding normativity. REASONS F1RST thus pursues a twofold objective: (i) to assess the merits and demerits of the Reasons-First Approach compared to alternative proposals and (ii) to work out in detail how different normative phenomena – including values, obligations and rights, the justification of beliefs, as well as appropriateness norms for emotions – can be explained in terms of reasons. Temperature control systems are responsible for approximately half of the EU energy consumption expenditure. This figure alone amply justifies the need to dedicate great efforts to the search for alternative refrigeration and heat pump methods. Research on caloric materials has never been as active as it is now, due to the prospect of new-generation refrigerators and heat pumps that are energy efficient and environmentally friendly, on the one hand, and the policies on low-energy consumption and global warming refrigerants, on the other. MolCal presents an approach never tried before in similar collaborative research training programmes. We will consider caloric materials that fall under the umbrella of molecule-based materials and can respond to different sources of the driving stimulus, be it magnetic, electric, and/or mechanical. Since there is no clear-cut consensus on which type of caloric material holds the most promise, this multi-front approach will be an advantage because it will permit transfer of methods already developed from the magnetocaloric subfield into the others, which are increasingly in the spotlight because of their enormous potentiality. Furthermore, MolCal will develop devices based on low-cost barocaloric materials and, due to the molecular characteristics, will progress towards challenging applications by exploring the limits of the smallest size of magnetic refrigerators. Despite concerted efforts, this disparity persists, exhibiting noticeable differences across member states. Recent changes in the European labor market, such as the reduced role of unions and the shift towards individual pay negotiations, may amplify these disparities. Individual pay negotiations increase the responsibility of employees in determining their pay. Men typically achieve more favorable outcomes than women in these individual pay negotiations. Thus, the increasing prevalence of individual pay negotiations in Europe may lead to the widening of the gender pay gap. A vital aspect of this research is the focus on fairness norms in pay negotiations and their impact on the gender pay gap. Prior research reveals that perceptions of pay fairness are often subconsciously skewed against women. This project explores under what conditions pay fairness attitudes develop a gender bias and how they subsequently influence the outcomes of pay negotiations. To investigate this, I will conduct unique surveys across selected European countries, examining the origins of gender-biased fairness attitudes and their effect on negotiation behaviors and the gender pay gap. These surveys will incorporate experimental elements to assess causal relationships. By integrating these empirical studies within a unified theoretical framework, the project seeks to offer a comprehensive understanding of gender biases in pay negotiations and their broader implications for the labor market. In sum, this project tackles a vital gap in our knowledge regarding the gender pay gap, focusing on the influence of fairness norms in wage negotiations.
