Under the presidency of the professor of law, Michel Trochu, the University of Tours adopted its statutes, creating ten Teaching and Research Units: Human Sciences - Literature and Languages - English Studies Medicine - Pharmaceutical sciences - Law and Economics Sciences - Centre for Advanced Renaissance Studies - Centre for Scientific Studies in Planning Geography and Computer sciences - Tours Institute of Technology. He was then an associate professor at the University of Nice. The event took place in the brand new premises of the faculty of Literature and Languages on the rue des Tanneurs, on the banks of the Loire. The event was attended by many French and foreign researchers and students, journalists and curious observers, attracted by the writer's reputation. Several opponents of this cultural show made themselves heard with a loudspeaker trying to drown out Butor's voice. They spread leaflets signed the centre for the growth of applied cannibalism. The press reported on this academic and media event. An article by Jacqueline Poitier appeared in Le Monde on 15 February 1973 under the title Novel critic, alchemist and anthropophagist, Michel Butor before his judges, while Le Nouvel Observateur detailed the traveling to Tours of the literary Tout-Paris (12 February 1973, n 431, page 67). The jury unanimously awarded Michel Butor a First Class Honours, but the Consultative Committee (the forerunner of the National Council of Universities) refused to include him on the list of candidates for full professorship. The then president of the University of Tours, Jacques Body, spoke of an advisory committee dominated by the rather conservative Sorbonne. Michel Butor himself does not seem to have kept a very good memory of that day of 7 February, as he suggests in a letter to his friend Georges Perros: The session of 7 February was as painful as expected. Besides, you must have seen Quesnel since he was there [...] I needed a good week to recover from the Touraine festivities\". Perros replied: My dear doctor, Yes, I was told that you had been very brilliant, which did not surprise me. Good thing done.","Image":"https://spod.neolaiacampus.eu/ethersheet/images/0d6aa8a8-f302-4e0f-8f6d-49ada23d4070/bfc0ae01-8360-4a77-b23b-61cb8168ad69.jpg","Image author":"Portrait of the french writter Michel Butor","Image license":"CC BY NC ND","Geographic information":"","URL":"https://patrimoine.univ-tours.fr/temps-forts/la-soutenance-de-these-de-michel-butor"},{"_id":11,"Date":"","Year":1983,"Event name":"Highlight : Danile Guillaume, the first woman administrative staff to be elected dean of a university","Brief event description":"Danile Guillaume's career at Franois-Rabelais University has been both atypical and exemplary. She joined the Centre for Advanced Renaissance Studies in 1966 as an assistant librarian. In 1972, she became a photographer of the department of History of Arts, in the Human Sciences teaching and research unit. As member of the SGEN-CFDT trade union and representative of the administrative staff in different boards of the university, she acquired a good knowledge of how the university operated. In March 1983, she ran for the position of Director of the Human Sciences Teaching and Research unit, a position traditionally held by a lecturer. She was elected on the first ballot, setting a unique precedent in France. Despite the difficulties encountered in getting her election ratified, she held the post for three years, from 1983 to 1986. She then became head of the University Life Department, which was responsible for managing student life, relations with associations and monitoring activities on university sites. Her responsibilities gradually expanded to include communications and culture.","Image":"https://spod.neolaiacampus.eu/ethersheet/images/0d6aa8a8-f302-4e0f-8f6d-49ada23d4070/dcfdd01a-3a40-47d6-be4b-62526afba78c.png","Image author":"","Image license":"CC-BY-SA","Geographic information":"","URL":"https://patrimoine.univ-tours.fr/temps-forts/daniele-guillaume-lunique-femme-personnel-administratif-elue-doyenne-dune-universite"},{"_id":12,"Date":"","Year":1988,"Event name":"Creation of the University Centre of Blois","Brief event description":"","Image":"https://spod.neolaiacampus.eu/ethersheet/images/0d6aa8a8-f302-4e0f-8f6d-49ada23d4070/88098d1d-74d8-4d7d-a773-1e1bc1141a6f.jpg","Image author":"Inauguration of the Blois university centre, in the presence of Jack Lang anonymous, documentation of the university of Tours","Image license":"CC BY NC ND","Geographic information":"47.58379035,1.3244156707555275","URL":"https://iut-blois.univ-tours.fr/version-francaise/le-site-universitaire-de-blois"},{"_id":13,"Date":"","Year":1990,"Event name":"Creation of the University Centre of Chinon","Brief event description":"","Image":"","Image author":"","Image license":"","Geographic information":"47.16325843337472,0.23520129929693212","URL":""},{"_id":14,"Date":"","Year":1991,"Event name":"Creation of the School of Computer Engineering for Industry","Brief event description":"","Image":"","Image author":"","Image license":"","Geographic information":"","URL":""},{"_id":15,"Date":"","Year":1993,"Event name":"Creation of the Blois Institute of Technology","Brief event description":"","Image":"","Image author":"","Image license":"","Geographic information":"47.58379035,1.3244156707555275","URL":"https://iut.univ-tours.fr/"},{"_id":16,"Date":"","Year":1999,"Event name":"The School of Engineering of Tours becomes part of the University of Tours","Brief event description":"An engineering school opened in Tours in 1985 at the instigation of the local council.
